On the way — Mac ships first.
These steps are for invited testers who already have a direct download link. These prototype builds aren't notarized with Apple yet, so the first time you open Emi your computer shows a security prompt. It appears once per version — here is how to get through it.
You only do this once per version. After that, Emi opens normally.
On macOS 12–14 the equivalent is to right-click (Control-click) Emi in Applications → Open → Open.
After copying Emi into Applications, clear the quarantine flag in one step:
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Emi.app
Or download with curl, which never adds the quarantine flag in the first place — substitute the link we sent you for <download-url>:
curl -L -o ~/Downloads/Emi.dmg "<download-url>"
On a work or school Mac? Managed devices (MDM) can require Apple notarization with no way to override it, so these steps may not work. Reach out to us and we will get you set up.
When Windows SmartScreen appears, click More info, then Run anyway.
Signed, notarized builds — with automatic updates — arrive before Emi opens to a wider release.
